Was Billy at the hearing?

Billy Long is on the Homeland Security Committee. In fact, he is vice chair of one of committee's sub-committees.

As Billy Long said in an interview with the American Board for Certification in Homeland Security, "Peter King was looking for people who could take the tough votes," Rep. Long said. "So, for me to be named Vice Chairman—for a freshman, that's a pretty tall honor."

Today, the Homeland Security Committee, under the direction of Chair Peter King, held a highly pubicized hearing into the radicalization of Muslims and the effect of that radicalization on terrorism and the security of the United States.

This was big time stuff.

And Billy Long was a no-show.

According to Politico, Billy Long missed that hearing because he had a meeting with a constituent.

Who is this 'constituent' that caused Billy Long to miss this important hearing?

Who is this constituent that was more important than the security of the United States?

Who is this constituent that was more important than fighting terrorism in the homeland?

The hearing convened at 9:30 AM and lasted until at least 11:30 AM.

Who is this constituent and why couldn't Billy Long have met with him after the committee hearing?

Remember when Billy Long missed the reading of the US Constitution of the floor of the House because he was meeting with a 'constituent'. I do.

I do.

Only Billy Long wasn't meeting with a constituent, he was meeting with a lobbyist.

Is the same thing happening here?

Who is this constituent who was so important that he caused Billy Long to miss this high profile hearing?

A lot of Billy's constituents have reported that Billy Long does not answer their emails and letters. Others have said that they receive "canned" replies from Long or his staff.

So it does seem suspect that Long misses this hearing because he had a constituent meeting.

This wasn't he first thing Long has missed in D.C.

Remember how he missed the reading of the Constitution because he was meeting with a lobbyist.

Remember how he missed the ceremony at the Smithsonian when "The Baldknobbers" artifacts were presented to the museum.

I do.

Senator Blunt was there. But not Billy Long.

Billy Long: You told us you were appointed to the Homeland Security committee because Peter King needed somebody to make tough decisions.

This hearing this morning would have given the United States its first taste of Billy Long.

And he was a no-show.

About the only thing Billy Long has done this session so far is vote to keep gov't sponsorship on NASCAR race cars and to re-tweet John Boehner tweets.

For this we are paying $14,500 a month? Plus expenses? Plus per diems?

Did someone encourage Billy Long NOT to attend the hearing?

Billy Long: you owe us an explanation.
